Any general advice for baking vegan?

  1. Follow instructions as closely as possible." The best advice is cliche, but true! Achieving the right texture and flavor with plant-based ingredients requires precise proportions, making them more demanding than animal-based ones.
  2. Second, before you get started, make sure all your ingredients are at room temperature. This will ensure the batter gets mixed properly.

Why is "pre-heating the oven" the first step in baking?

For best results, it's crucial that your batter begins cooking at the right temperature as soon as you place it into the oven.

While some ovens take longer to reach the desired temperature, a more common
challenge is ovens that warm up un-evenly.

To ensure your oven reaches the proper temperature, with as even a bake as
possible, we recommend pre-heating right at the beginning of your preparation.

Are Vegan Confectionaries products gluten-free?

We only have one product that has a gluten-free option, the Gluten-Free Almond
Crisp Topping Mix. It is offered as 5 Oz. bags, half the size of the regular one.

Can I store leftover bread, and for how long?

Yes, they can be stored for 2-3 days in an airtight container at room temperature, 4-5 days in the refrigerator, and month and a
half in the freezer without compromising flavor and texture. Given the all plant-based ingredients, our breads tend to last for a while without contamination. If frozen, they need to thaw at room temperature for 1-2 hours to regain texture, but if weather is hot, it is better to thaw in the fridge.
Breads can be refrozen. Let’s keep in mind that breads taste better at room
temperature than cold.

Can I warm up leftover bread?

Yes! In fact, a few seconds in the microwave or a few minutes in the toaster will make for a delicious treat (talk about melting chocolate chips...)



Can the Bread Mixes be used to make cakes?

Yes; you can use rectangular or circular baking pans, just make sure they are:

(a) very well-greased (using vegetable
shortening) and dusted with flour,

or (b) paper lined.

Note that such baking pans usually cook the Bread Mix in less time than loaf pans, so watch your oven closely!



Does frosting taste good on the Banana or Pumpkin breads?

Of course! Any frosting will likely taste good, but our favorite is a Lime glaze.



For the Crisp Topping Mixes, can I use regular oil instead of olive oil?

Yes, basically all oils work well, but regular olive oil makes it tastier.
